Schinnerer’s Annual Meeting of Invited Attorneys is about to host its 53rd session. This year’s meeting takes place this week in Boston and it will continue a long-standing tradition of defense counsel and attorneys meeting to discuss legal and professional practice developments. This is a valuable exercise for attendees as they learn recent trends while anticipating upcoming risks facing the profession as a whole. Guest speakers are defense attorneys and in-house counsels from design firms so they are able to offer opinions and strategies “from the frontlines.”
The results of these meetings are the Proceedings of the Annual Meeting of Invited Attorneys. Each guest speaker at the meeting gives a presentation on the chosen topic and submits a paper for publication in the Proceedings. All papers and presentations are posted on our website for insured and broker use. This year’s topics include preparing a witness for testimony, the risks inherent when a design professional assumes fiduciary obligations to the owner, who’s responsible for ADA and FHA compliance, and an analysis of the status of the lack of privity as a valid defense.
Papers from last year’s meeting as well as select papers from our archives are also available.
