Handle your data with care

We live in an age where project information flows digitally between clients, other consultants and constructors. We also live in an age where our business records detailing firm finances and staff information resides electronically in computers. The widely publicized breach of Sony Pictures Entertainment’s computer systems serves as a wake up call to all of us. All firms have confidential, sensitive information that needs to stay private. Clients often require that you keep project information confidential. You should therefore take the utmost care in making sure that the security protocols on your systems are up to date. You should also take the time to make sure that all of your staff are educated on the importance of keeping information confidential. Regardless of the size of your firm, there should be at least one person who is aware of how your computer systems operate. Although the information that resides in our systems may not be as titillating as the movie industry, the unplanned release of confidential, proprietary information can jeopardize the viability of your firm.
